I fell in love with Karma Art almost instantly. This app allows you to create whimsical scenes by selecting from a variety of charming graphics such as pink whales, hearts, and stick figures, all with a hand-drawn, childlike qualities. Choose from a selection of backgrounds resembling textured paper while adding grass scribbled or playful raindrops. There is also an option to add text.

I spent a good hour making various scenes and sending them to my friends, I’ve bombarded their inboxes with silliness reminescent of the time when construction paper and crayons were a desktop staple. And when I used to eat paste.

Karma Art is a fun, easy to use, and incredibly charming app. A great app for occupying children or just passing the time!

I came across Debt Freedom while on a financial responsibility kick, looking for an app that would help me fully assess how much of a hole my shopping habit has gotten me in. Debt Freedom uses the popular “Snowball Method” to help plan and eliminate your debt. All you have to do is enter your balance, minimum payment, and APR for each credit card and/or loan you have, and how much you plan to pay in addition to the minimum balances and voila! Debt Freedom organizes and prioritizes your debt by either highest to lowest APR or lowest to highest balance, along with the date you can expect to get rid of each debt, assuming you stick to the plan.

I was hesitant on writing anything about this app after I first downloaded it, due to its complete lack of functionality beyond prioritizing my bills, giving me the impression that it was hastily put together. Luckily the first (and latest) update allowed for more flexibility.

This app is very straightforward and simple to use for those who are aggressively trying to pay off their debt and especially for those of us just getting started. Let’s face it, we live in a society where debt is a huge problem and amidst this financial crisis this app kind of gives you the slap in the face you might need to buckle down and get serious. In addition to prioritizing your debt, Debt Freedom calculates the date each obligation will be paid off, your total debt, and interest saved when you pay more than the minimum balance. The app also generates a report of how much you will have to pay each month to stick to your plan, which you can email. I only have two problems with this app, it lacks password protection, and the price. It is far to simple to justify spending $2.99, however there is a lot of potential with future updates and serves its purpose in a clear, easy to understand way.
